Our Lineage
Dzogchen Nyingthik
Nyingthik (སྙིང་ཐིག་) means “Heart Essence” or “Innermost Essence” in Tibetan Buddhism. It refers to profound teachings and meditation instructions of the Dzogchen (Great Perfection) tradition, particularly within the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism.
The Nyingthik teachings guide practitioners toward recognizing the true nature of mind, which is intrinsically pure, luminous, and naturally aware.
The Dzogchen Longchen Nyingthik
The Longchen Nyingthik (ཀློང་ཆེན་སྙིང་ཐིག་) means “Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse.” It is one of the most renowned Dzogchen lineages of the Nyingma tradition, revealed by the great tertön Jigme Lingpa (1730–1798).
Its teachings emphasize two principal aspects:
2. Trekchö (ཁྲེགས་ཆོད་): Cutting through conceptual elaborations to recognize the primordially pure nature of mind.
4. Tögal (ཐོད་རྒལ་): Direct crossing, a profound practice associated with the spontaneous presence and natural radiance of awareness.
The meaning of Nyingthik
* Nying (སྙིང་): Heart or essence.
* Thik (ཐིག་): Quintessence, innermost point or essential drop.
Together, Nyingthik conveys the innermost heart essence of spiritual realization.
The ultimate purpose of Nyingthik teachings is to recognize the true nature of mind, transcend the obscurations of ignorance and the five afflictive emotions, and realize Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings.
These are profound Vajrayana teachings traditionally received through an authentic lineage, with appropriate empowerments, oral transmissions (lung), and personal instructions (tri) from a qualified teacher.
